Our family is trying to continue Jack's legacy by establishing a scholarship in his honor, to help other young athletes follow their dreams.

Her older sister, Johanna, was eight years her senior and her younger sister, Gabriella, was four years her junior. Elsy graduated from high school in 1978 and went on to study psychology at Rutgers University. She earned her undergraduate degree in 1982 and her masters degree in 1984. She became a school psychologist shortly after graduation and worked in the New Jersey public school system for her entire career.

Elsy was a well-respected member of her community. She was always quick to offer help or support to anyone in need. Her colleagues described her as ""a ray of sunshine"" and ""one of the kindest women in New Jersey."" Elsy's friends and family knew that they could always count on her for a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear, despite her long hours and difficult career.

On March 23rd, 2017, Elsy Liu passed away suddenly from a heart attack. She was just 56 years old. Her death came as a shock to everyone who knew her. In the days following her death, many people came forward to share stories about how Elsy had helped them through tough times. It was clear that she had touched many lives and that she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
